In celebration of Mother's Day and the continual development of my parenting workshops, I am sharing some articles about the mother child bond. We all know that science is my first love and these articles are truly informative. Read them and just them about them for a moment. Mothers we are the most important factor in... our children's lives. Dads are crucial as well. I loved my daddy. He was my number 1 fan. But mothers let's take our responsibility serious.

Here is an interesting article on Charter Schools. I really like public schools because they can't discriminate and cherry pick their students. They have to adhere to all state and federal laws. I think magnet schools are great because they have equal access. But I would love to hear the views of others. I am always open to a discussion.

In most schools (mine included) students are not suppose to carry cell phones. We all know that they have them. I sent my high school students to school with a cell phone for emergencies. So why not use them? I think that this is a great idea. Everybody texting and reviewing the lesson. Really creative.

Here is a great article about how students are motivated when parents and the community supports schools.

This is a great project for students to learn about science, nutrition, hard work etc.

I love those programs that address the whole child. We have to learn how to get along with each other as well as the academics. Most dismissals in the work place are due to poor social skills.

This is incredible! This school decided to nurture it's own teachers to be the best which has affected the students. I think that it is wonderful!!!

Here is a great article about volunteerisim among student. I think service learning should be infused in the curriculum and used to teach character in our schools.

Here is a great article about positive behavior supports. We need to focus more attention on positive behaviors. Children should not have to act out to get the attention of adults.

This is so cool! Students and Teachers learning together!! We really need to use technology to increase achievement.

We tried to do a similiar project between Cuba and the United States where students in Cuba would do a project about a poluted river in Cuba and how to clean it and American students would do a project here but the Treasury Department of the U.S. would not approve it. Students are doing some great things. They need more publicity for the positive contributions.

It would be great if we could give prospective parents training and test them on their new skills. It would be great just to have people be reflective on their parenting style. What I hear most often, is that this is what was done with me and I turned out okay. But did you?

Since I am from Memphis, I had to share this one.

Everyone knows that I do not believe in spanking and paddling and it seems like the feds agree with me.

Here is an interesting article about the value and importance of education.

I think that this is a fascinating article. I would love to hear from others about their views. The author writes her perspective from the U.K. but is it the same for us in the U.S.

I found this article to be interesting. I have a number of college interns in education working for me as well as mentoring first year teachers. I love their enthusiam and willingness to open up this can of worms and discuss how we can educate children better.

Here is an interesting article. I am a little disappointed in the GOP. They seem to have a lot of criticism but are short on ideas. I like a vigorous debate where both sides share ideas.

This is a great article about students as resources as to how they learn best. I have found that children as young as 5 can tell you how they like to learn best. We need to listen to students more.

This is an interesting idea. If children will not attend school, we should consider alternatives such as online learning.
