St. Carries Center is partnering with a Tanzanian group called Messiah Heritage Preservation Foundation and Cycle for Africa, a British group, to build 25 schools and school libraries in 2009.

Volunteers from the United States will go to Mlali to teach the children English and to study Swahili.  The volunteers will spend 2 weeks to a 1 month at the school in Mlali.  We are raising $1000 to build a library for the school.

St. Carries Center wants to adopt the school and the library once it has been built to ensure its success.  We are hoping that this will be an ongoing relationship with the school.  We are hoping that American school children will communicate with the school children in Tanzania.  We are hoping that University students will ch owe this educational site as a serivce center.

Matthew Norton is the Execuite Directior of the Messiah Heritage Preservation Foundation.  St. Carries Center and the Messiah Heritage Preservation Foundation have a lot in common; their philosophy and an all volunteer Board of Directors.  In this way you can be sure that 100% of your dollars go directly to the project.

St. Carries Center supports the Bolivar Correctional Facility for Women in Bolivar County Mississippi.  Many of the women want cards to send to their families during the holiday season, birthdays or times of illness or bereavement.  We encourage women to continue to parent their children especially while incarcerated.  We accept donations of money for these women who are new to the facility and not allowed to accept donations due to security.  These women must have money on their books and buy their supplies directly from the facility.  If they are abandoned by their families they have to forego personal hygiene.  We support the women who serve in the facility by providing small gifts during the holidays and a card.  We like to show support to the officers at the facility who perfeorm a tremendous service.
