Positive Behavior Supports:   Encouraging Students To Take Responsibility For Their Own Behavior

Children can learn self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, problem solving, and respect for themselves and others. When teachers use punishment and reward with the intention of gaining obediance, students learn to be obedient in the presence of authority . Punishment works temporarily.  Children need to learn to think and make their own decisions because of natural consequences. Children can learn to accept what is appropriate and beneficial and to respectfully address what is inappropriate and disrespectful

Resolving Conflicts - Building Relationship:  Teaching Students How To Resolve Problems Without Physical and Verbal Aggression

We assume that children are taught social skills at home an d come to school ready to benefit from academic instruction. The truth is that many students come from homes where they are not taught how to get along with others and participate in a group setting. They may strike other children, constantly provoke and agitate others. They may have loud outbursts during instruction or simply don’t know how to ask for assistance from the teacher.

Conflict is a normal, natural part of living in a complex society. Learning to respect differences and learning to appreciate oneself is a key essential skill. This seven step program teaches one to look at the problem or issue from all perspectives and to create win-win situations or to be able to part agreeing to disagree. Learning to deal with conflict is an essential skill to live in society.

Behavior Management In the Classroom You Can Control Them All

As educators we are professionally trained to teach students academic subjects. The first step in behavior management is to ensure that the curriculum is appropriate for the students. We have to develop a professional strategic attitude and learn to influence student behavior in an acceptable way to facilitate learning. Discipline is the adjustment of unacceptable behavior to acceptable behavior. Many students must be taught to accept responsibility for their behavior. This workshop shows teachers how to promote self discipline and help children learn to what they are suppose to do while in school. Students must be taught to be accountable for their behavior and Educators must model appropriate behavior.

Race, Religion, Sexual Orientation-Does It Matter When Studying Abroad

Any student should have the freedom to visit any destination in the world and do so without experiencing any negative backlash. But many countries do not have the anti-discumination laws or share the rich history of Civil Rights that we have here in the United States.don’t let the possibility of discrimination prevent you from experiencing the many benefits of study abroad.

Many times people are simply curious because they have limited or no experience with people who look like you.  In China, people  stared at me and touched my hair. The girls ask me to braid a small part of their hair and would look in the mirror in approval.

Many of the  questions or actions you may encounter wouldn’t be accepted in a multi-cultural society like the United States. But if you’re abroad in an area where people have had little or no contact with minority students, people, especially children, tend to be very curious. If somebody says or does something that is offensive to you, try to distinguish between a person who is genuinely curious about you and your culture and someone who has bad intentions.

If you know that people in a country have issues with your race, religion or sexual orientation you might try to make it a non issue as much as possible. This workshop discusses strategies to deal with being different while traveling abroad.

MONEY, MONEY, MONEY:  How To Cope With The Economic Disparity When Traveling Abroad

Many students are overwhelmed with the poverty that they see while traveling abroad. Somehow we get numb to the poverty in our own country and feel that it is the person's fault. When we travel abroad, we tend to feel that the poverty is beyond the indivitual's control.  Use common sense when traveling abroad. Just because someone asks you for money does not obligate to give it to them and just because someone is nice to you doesn't mean that you have to pay them. The question is Am I getting more in use value than I am paying in cash value should constantly be on your mind. Make every effort to afford financial transactions with so called friends. The best thing that you can do for an International Contact is to treat them with the same respect that you would treat your National counterpart and say NO when neccessary.

This workshop discusses how to have discussions around money with people who may be supportive in other countries. People respect individuals who treat them like equals.

This workshop show educators how to collect relevant data based on the student’s academic functioning and behavior. It is simply not enough to say that a student is engaging in behaviors which are not conducive to learning. Schools must implement interventions to extinguish the undesirable behavior and teach behaviors that are conducive to learning.
